Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civils Estimator for our client to join their construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Duties

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to determine scope of work accurately.

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop realistic budgets and timelines.

  • Conduct market research to obtain current pricing data and supplier quotations.

  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget forecasts.

  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards.

  • Maintain organised records of all estimates, revisions, and related documentation for audit purposes.

  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions and bid proposals.

  • Implement effective cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Civils Estimator within the construction or civil engineering sector.

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering processes, materials, and construction methods.

  • Demonstrable expertise in cost control techniques and budgeting strategies.

  • Proficiency in estimating software tools such as Bluebeam, CostX or equivalent programmes.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations.

  • Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with suppliers, clients, and team members.
